ACNE SOHO

New Store Opening Alert! Bednark Studio built the interior millwork for Acne Studios AB with general contractor Michilli Inc. The design challenge we were tasked with solving was making pieces that had weight without being unmanageable for install or the weight loads of the buildings floors. A majority of Soho's Iron clad buildings were built as factories and should be able to handle thousands of pounds of equipment on each floor but over time the structures have been modified or not properly maintained for factory use. This was the case of this building and we needed to divert from making solid cement pieces to painted wood fixtures. All pieces were made from triple stack 1" medex mdf and finished with white epoxy finishes. Some objects where also filled with sand to give more weight if they were picked up or moved by customers or staff. This is what #retailexperience is all about, going extra for the details.
